Paul was asked to present at the 2012 VOASA Conference in Durban in June 2012. The two other lawyers presenting at the event were asked to present on aspects of the Consumer Protection Act as they related to VOASA's members so Paul focused on privacy and reputational issues arising out of marketing practices instead.
Paul was allocated 20 minutes to present so he had to keep my presentation shorter than usual (not an easy feat for him, he loves to talk about his work):
Paul captured his presentation using SoundCloud and the recording is below.
Paul has written about the topics he mentioned in my presentation and here are some of the posts:
- Privacy in a nutshell, a guide;
- The President, his penis and the Streisand Effect;
- Tension in the direct marketing industry over opt-in requirements (WASPA Code references may be dated but the basic requirements persist).
